Goal(s)
One of the objectives of this activity is for participants to get to know each other in an original way, through musical preferences and the emotions that music can provide. It is also an opportunity for young people to broaden their musical culture.
Overview of Activity
The activity aims to get young people to interact and get to know each other better, based on their musical tastes. Participants will be able to share what the songs arouse in them; which thoughts, emotions and memories the music is able to communicate. By attempting to guess which of the participants has chosen the song that is being played, the activity uses music as a tool that brings people together and encourages them to open up about personal issues and empathise with others.
Description of Activity
Participants in the activity will be given a few minutes to think about a song that conveys an emotion to them or provokes thoughts they would like to share. They will write the title of the song and the artist on a piece of paper that will be placed with the others in a container, so that everyone's proposal will be anonymous. Once everyone has placed the titles in the box, the participants take turns explaining why they chose the song, without saying the title directly, but only referring to what it communicates to them. One by one the songs will be played and each participant will try to identify which of the participants wrote the title of the song they just heard and why. The educator will assign points to the participants who guess who the song belongs to. The player with the most points at the end of the activity can receive a month's subscription to a music streaming platform (such as Spotify) as a prize.
