Overview of Activity
Youth Talks is an interactive event designed to empower young people to stand up and speak about their ideas freely in a supportive and inclusive environment. The activity provides a platform for youth to express themselves, share their perspectives, and engage in meaningful dialogue with their peers. Youth Talks provides a platform for young people to speak up, be heard, and make a difference in their communities. Through thoughtful planning and implementation, the activity empowers youth to share their ideas, inspire others, and create positive change.
Description of Activity
Preparation Before the Event:
- Choose a venue that is spacious, comfortable, and conducive to public speaking. Ensure that there is appropriate seating, lighting, and audiovisual equipment.
Arrange for any necessary permits, equipment rentals, or technical support.
Promotion and Outreach:
- Develop promotional materials (posters, social media graphics, email invitations) to attract participants and attendees.
Implementation of the Event:
Welcome and Introduction:
- Begin the event with a warm welcome and introduction to set the tone and objectives.
- Emphasize the importance of youth voices and the opportunity for participants to share their ideas and perspectives.
Speaker Presentations:
- Invite each participant to take the stage and deliver their presentation or speech. Allocate a specific time limit for each speaker to ensure all participants have an equal opportunity to share.
- Encourage speakers to share personal stories, insights and opinions
Moderated Discussion or Q&A:
- Facilitate a moderated discussion or Q&A session after each set of presentations. This allows the audience to engage with the speakers, ask questions, and offer feedback.
- Ensure that the discussion is respectful, inclusive, and conducive to constructive dialogue.
Networking and Interaction:
- Provide opportunities for participants and attendees to network, connect, and exchange ideas informally. This could include refreshment breaks or designated networking sessions.
Feedback and Reflection:
